The American Express historical exhibit display, a part of its Corporate Archives, was to be located in the lobby of the American Express building at the World Financial Center. The primary element of the exhibition design proposal is a blue translucent curved surface made up of sliding panels. The geometry of this surface is generated using the radius of the 9/11 memorial directly in front of the exhibition area in the lobby. The curved surface is used to separate the exhibition area from the archives beyond while still sharing its controlled environment, and to create a space for rare and precious objects with greater control over lighting levels and environmental conditions
