LaGuardia Airport
Project location: Queens, NY
Client: HOK-WSP Design JV
Design/ Construction: 2017-2020
Overall Project Cost: $ 4 billion
NPA is assisting HOK with various sections of the new Central Terminal B at LaGuardia airport. The project includes a new 35-gate terminal, a central hall, a new west garage, related roadways and supporting infrastructure. During construction, the existing terminal has remained fully operational. New facilities began opening in 2018, with scheduled substantial completion in 2022. The $4 billion public-private partnership is one of the largest for new transportation infrastructure in the US.
NPA has worked closely with HOK and its consultants on the team on various parts of the new terminal:
-Construction documents for the interior of the Central Hall which will have retail stores and where the Airtrain will connect;
-Millwork details for the ticketing and check-in canopies
-Design and construction documents for the Temporary Connector between the existing Terminal A and the new Terminal as Architect of Record.
The project has been developed in BIM using Revit software and submission requirements include conforming to Port Authority of New York and New Jersey standards. The process has been intensive with review and comments by Parsons/ HOK, the Walsh Skanska Partnership (WSP), and the Port Authority.
